On February 14, Manning was cited by Radio Free Asia regarding how the United States is approaching financial sanctions of North Korea and the administration’s cooperation with allies.

“Robert Manning, a senior researcher at the Atlantic Council…told Radio Free Asia (RFA) that the State Department is currently working with the Ministry of Finance to understand what additional sanctions may be imposed on North Korea in the future.

“Senior Researcher Manning said that Secretary Blinken’s remarks can be interpreted not only as targeting North Korea, but also as emphasizing the need for other countries to tighten up illegal financial networks supporting North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs and to participate in the enforcement of sanctions against North Korea. Researcher Manning also predicts that the US is currently reviewing the effectiveness of additional sanctions against individuals and entities previously identified as engaging in illegal financial transactions in North Korea, following the US adding new North Korean-related individuals and entities to the sanctions list last month.”
