Politico quotes Ambassador of Chile to the United States Juan Gabriel Valdés on the Trans-Pacific Partnership from Atlantic Council event:

CHILE WORKING TO SELL TPP AT HOME: Chile is undertaking a major effort to convince domestic business groups and lawmakers that TPP will boost its economy without undermining development, Chile’s ambassador to the United States, Juan Gabriel Valdés, said Thursday.

Chile already has trade agreements to varying degrees with the 11 other countries participating in the massive Asia-Pacific trade talks. The South American country would like the TPP to “complement and improve” a 10-year-old agreement with the U.S.,  Valdés said at an Atlantic Council discussion on TPP, noting the importance of the deal in relation to setting standards for China.
