Miami Public Radio WLRN publishes an op-ed discussing the Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center’s public poll on US policy toward Cuba:
A major poll released Monday confirms that most Americans, and especially Floridians, feel it’s time to normalize relations with communist Cuba after more than a half century of Cold-War rupture.
But on the same day that the Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center of the Atlantic Council issued the poll, the State Department deplored the recent spate of “arbitrary detentions, physical violence, and other abusive actions carried out by the Cuban Government against peaceful human and civil rights advocates.”
So a majority of us should feel terrible guilty about what we told the Arsht pollsters, right? To the contrary. If anything, the State statement helped explain the Arsht findings.
