A Conversation on Information Wars with Richard Stengel

In a conversation hosted by the Atlantic Council’s DFRLab on October 16, 2019, Richard Stengel explained the threat disinformation poses to democracy and what we can do about it. As a former editor-in-chief of Time and Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs in the Obama administration, Stengel had a unique vantage point of the U.S. government’s efforts to combat the global rise of disinformation and Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. He chronicles that experience in his latest book, “Information Wars: How We Lost the Global Battle Against Disinformation and What We Can Do About It.”
