US News and World Report cites the Atlantic Council for hosting a conference call with Ambassador-in-Residence Michael Oren on the conflict between Israel and Hamas:

The Israeli government is flat-out broke when it comes to the international credit it needs to perform a military operation that would ultimately “defang” Hamas, said Michael Oren, the country’s former ambassador to the U.S. and a vocal advocate for crushing the militant wing of the political party that governs Gaza.

“You really need to demilitarize Hamas. To do that will take time and it will take political space,” said the American-born Oren, speaking on a phone call with reporters early Monday organized by the Atlantic Council. “Israel entered this conflict without a degree of political space.”
