Kiran Baez is a program assistant with the Atlantic Council’s Turkey Program. Baez joined the Council as part of the spring young global professional cohort in January 2024. He has experience researching regional security and energy policy across Western and Central Asia. He has lived in Turkey and conducted field research across Central Asia. His most recent projects have focused on industrial policy in Uzbekistan and Turkey’s growing involvement in international upstream extractive projects.

Prior to joining the Council, Baez interned at the Istanbul Policy Center, where he supported a project on high-skilled migration, and at the Center on National Security at Fordham University, supporting a project exploring oversight at the US Department of Justice.

Baez holds a degree in religious studies from Tufts University, with a regional concentration in the Middle East.
