Atlantic Council at the 2026 US-Africa Nuclear Energy Summit (Day 2)
Atlantic Council at the 2026 US-Africa Nuclear Energy Summit (Day 3)
On Wednesday, August 19 through Friday, August 21 at 5:00 a.m. ET / 9:00 a.m. GMT each day, the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center’s Nuclear Energy Policy Initiative will host a livestream of the US-Africa Nuclear Energy Summit (USANES). The summit is organized by the US Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy in partnership with the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission under the auspices of the Ghana Regional Energy Training Centre.
As African nations advance from planning to deploying civil nuclear power, success will hinge on people as much as technology. USANES 2026 brings together policymakers, industry experts, and educators from across the US and Africa to tackle a critical question: how to build the skilled workforce needed to power a new nuclear era?
Over three days, the summit will examine how to build end-to-end talent pipelines from STEM education to advanced nuclear expertise, strengthen technical and vocational training systems, expand regulatory capacity, advance digital skills like artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, and cultivate the next generation of nuclear leadership. Jennifer T. Gordon, the director of the Atlantic Council’s Nuclear Energy Policy Initiative, is among the experts participating in the event alongside senior US and African government officials, industry executives, and others.
