Before turning to China, Holliday’s military career focused on the Cold War, with duty in Berlin, where he was on the ground for the fall of the Berlin Wall and subsequent German unification; and in Moscow, where he served during the 1991 anti-Gorbachev coup and subsequent collapse of the Soviet Union.
He has a bachelor of arts degree in government and politics from the University of Maryland and a master of science degree in strategic intelligence from the National Intelligence University.
