On Friday, October 16 at 10:00 a.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center will host a discussion examining the recent developments in Georgia and the US-Georgia relationship.
Georgia’s political landscape is undergoing a profound transformation as the ruling Georgian Dream party strengthens its grip on power under the influence of Bidzina Ivanishvili. Sustained protests and continued demands for democratic reform demonstrate that public opposition remains active, even as political divisions complicate efforts to build a cohesive alternative. Meanwhile, Georgian Dream officials have sought to reset diplomatic relations with the United States, with limited success, as US officials continue to call for more stable and democratic conditions before normalizing ties.
This conversation will explore what recent developments mean for Georgia’s democratic future, its relationship with the West, and the country’s broader geopolitical trajectory.
New policy: In-person attendees will be required to show photo ID upon arrival, and no on-site registration will be permitted. Guests will not be admitted later than twenty minutes after the event’s start time.
By registering to attend in-person, you agree to abide by the Atlantic Council’s Event Code of Conduct.
