From Allied Command OperationsNATO will conduct exercise STEADFAST JUNCTURE 2012 (SFJE 12) from 1 – 8 November 2012. Estonia, as the host nation, will provide facilities and support for an operational level Joint Task Force Headquarters.

SFJE 12 was designed to be a venue for certification for NATO Response Force (NRF) 2013, generated by Joint Force Command Naples. The NRF is a highly ready and technologically advanced multinational force made up of land, air, maritime and Special Forces components that the Alliance can deploy rapidly to wherever it is needed. A combined joint force team has been training for almost one year and will be on stand-by in 2013, ready to quickly respond to a crisis situation anywhere in the world.

The Comprehensive Crisis and Operations Management Centre (CCOMC), which is the latest response of Supreme Allied Commander Europe in the quest for modernization of the Alliance, will also take part to this Exercise.

 SFJE 12 is a computer-assisted exercise, with simulated units on the ground, in the air and on the sea. Approximately 300 members of NATO’s Allied Joint Force Command Naples arrived on 28 October in Estonia, at Amari Air Base for conducting this exercise, while others will be playing their role in different locations throughout Europe:

     · St. Mawgan, United Kingdom – Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (Land Component Command – LCC); CBRN Battalion;
     · Fairford, United Kingdom- Joint Force Air Component Headquarters (Air CC);
     · Toulon, France – French Maritime Forces Component Command (Maritime CC) ;
     · Mons, Belgium – Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE);
     · Okehampton, United Kingdom- Joint Logistics Support Group,
     · Stavanger, Norway – Joint Warfare Centre (Exercise Control).

SFJE is linked to various other training events from the STEADFAST and NOBLE series which took place earlier this year (Noble Ardent 2012, Noble Ledger 2012, Noble Mariner 2012), and by conducting it, participants will have the opportunity to test, tailor and further develop concepts and capabilities which are pivotal to NATO’s capacity to react and manage crisis.  (graphic: Allied Joint Force Command Naples)
