On October 18, the Atlantic Council held its annual conference on transatlantic missile defense. This year’s conference focused on the progress of the European Phased Adaptive Approach (EPAA), the implementation of its second phase, and the future of transatlantic missile defense.

The conference featured an opening briefing and an update on the EPAA by Lt. Gen. Patrick O’Reilly from the Missile Defense Agency, a keynote address on the administration’s goals for the NATO Chicago Summit by Under Secretary of State Ellen Tauscher; and two panels assessing progress to date and the future of transatlantic missile defense featuring leading American and European experts.
