As the global community continues to grapple with the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Atlantic Council is open for business. Our business, meetings, and events, however, are occurring virtually. For more information, please read an update from our President and CEO.

POSTPONED

Please note: this event has been postponed until the new year. Once the event has been rescheduled, a Transatlantic Security Initiative staffer will reach out to registrants with the new date and time, and it will also be posted here. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Please join the Atlantic Council’s Transatlantic Security Initiative, in the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, for a virtual private panel discussion on countering Russian and Chinese hybrid threats on Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. EST via Zoom.

Tackling hybrid and cyber threats remains one of the greatest challenges for the transatlantic community. As hybrid threats continue to become more prominent, policymakers must move toward a more coherent, effective, and proactive strategy for countering Russian and Chinese hybrid threats that emphasizes the benefits of multilateral cooperation in our Alliance structures.

This panel discussion, to be followed by an open conversation among all attendees, will focus on assessing the various hybrid threats posed by Russia and China holistically, from disinformation to cyber-attacks, among others, as well as how the United States can work with its allies and partners to improve our common situational awareness, boost our resilience, develop a common strategic toolbox for countering hybrid threats, and strengthen capacity building in Europe’s neighborhood.

The panel will feature remarks by Ambassador Fredrik Lödquist, Ambassador-at-Large for Hybrid Threats at the Swedish MFA and Lauren Speranza, Director of Transatlantic Defense and Security at CEPA and author of “A strategic concept for countering Russian and Chinese hybrid threats,” among several others.

If you are able to participate, please RSVP via the form below. Please reach out to Gabriela Doyle at GDoyle@AtlanticCouncil.org for further information or any questions.
