Dale will discuss the year’s trends in energy supply and consumption, carbon emissions, and the global energy generation mix.

COVID-19 disrupted oil markets, led to significant changes in patterns of electricity use, and heightened ambitions to decarbonize the global energy system. As governments and corporations across the world set ambitious goals to reduce carbon emissions, they also searched for novel ways to ensure energy security, satisfy demand, and build more resilient and flexible energy systems.

In this moderated discussion, Spencer Dale will discuss the key findings and analysis in bp’s latest annual Statistical Review of World Energy and evaluate challenges and opportunities for the energy industry under three decarbonization scenarios: rapid, net-zero, and business-as-usual. Key trends to be addressed include growth in renewables, investments in new energy technologies, supply chain shifts, and global competition for new and existing fuels.
