As the global community continues to grapple with the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Atlantic Council is open for business. Our business, meetings, and events, however, are occurring virtually. For more information, please read an update from our President and CEO.

The Atlantic Council’s Europe Center is delighted to invite you to a high-level conversation with Lisa Nandy MP, the UK Shadow Foreign Secretary, and Nils Schmid MdB, the foreign policy spokesperson for the Social Democratic Party in the German Bundestag, on Friday, June 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. EDT / 14:00 hrs to 15:00 hrs GMT

Between June 11 and June 13, Prime Minister Boris Johnson gathers leaders of G7 nations, the EU and guest countries at the G7 Summit in Carbis Bay, Cornwall. The UK G7 Presidency has outlined an ambitious agenda to spearhead global recovery from coronavirus, strengthen resilience against future pandemics, promote free and fair trade, tackle climate change and champion shared values.

Lisa Nandy MP, UK Shadow Foreign Secretary and Labour Member of the UK Parliament, and Nils Schmid MdB, the foreign policy spokesperson for the Social Democratic Party in the German Bundestag, join the Council for a conversation about their expectations and aspirations for the G7 Summit. What would a progressive transatlantic agenda look like? How should one measure the success of the Summit? And what should G7 leaders do to drive global recovery from the pandemic and vaccine access; global cooperation on tax; efforts defending democracy and tackling corruption; and substantive action on climate change?
