On Wednesday, January 29, from 9:00–12:00 p.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Transatlantic Security Initiative, a program within the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, will host a conference on emerging threats to the global maritime order and how to counter them.

Maritime threats are growing rapidly: ships are being attacked in the Red Sea, undersea cables and pipelines are being harmed in the Baltic Sea and elsewhere, the shadow fleet is endangering ships, coastal states and the marine environment, and maritime borders are being ignored. The global maritime order is under enormous pressure, and it’s unclear who—if anyone—can reverse this development. If it continues, the global economy will suffer. At this conference, which is part of the Atlantic Council’s Maritime Threats initiative, speakers will discuss current and emerging threats to the maritime order and potential measures to protect it.

This conversation will take place at Atlantic Council headquarters and will be broadcast on YouTubeXFacebook, and LinkedInTo join us in-person or virtually, please complete the registration form.
