Please join the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security and its Forward Defense practice area for our latest Commanders Series event on “Global challenges and the Army’s role: A conversation with Secretary of the US Army Christine Wormuth.” This event will take place on Thursday, February 24, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET via Zoom. To receive the Zoom link, please register by clicking the REGISTER button above.

As the United States and its allies and partners grapple with new and growing security threats, the US Army must adapt to prevail in near-peer competition across the globe. In Europe, the Army remains on the front lines, deploying thousands of troops to NATO countries in response to the heightening Russian threat to Ukraine. In the Indo-Pacific, the Army serves as a linchpin to joint operations, ready to provide for basing and logistics needs in any future conflict scenario. Yet, while shifting resources to prepare for the next fight, the force still significantly contributes to US and allied counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations in the Middle East. Keeping the future front of mind, the US Army is embracing innovation and empowering its people to prevail in a new battlespace that brings together all domains and theaters of warfare.

As the Defense Department puts the finishing touches on its forthcoming National Defense Strategy—which will provide a road map for the future of US defense—the Hon. Christine Wormuth will join us in conversation with the Wall Street Journal’s Vivian Salama to discuss the Army’s role in deterring and defending against global threats of today and tomorrow.

We hope you can join us for what promises to be an important and timely discussion. To receive the virtual Zoom link, please register by completing the registration form below.
