On March 10 at 9:00 am ET, the Atlantic Council’s Democracy + Tech Initiative will launch its latest report, “Emerging technology policies and democracy in Africa: South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, and Zambia in focus.”

The report examines how five African countries are navigating the complex landscape of emerging technologies, focusing on connectivity, data governance, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and digital public infrastructure.

The report launch will conclude with an open discussion on the future of technology governance in Africa, exploring how inclusive policies can ensure equitable digital transformation and protect digital rights.

This event offers an invaluable opportunity for policymakers, researchers, civil society actors, and technology experts to engage with critical issues surrounding technology governance in Africa. The report’s findings will promote a rights-aligned approach to technology regulation and accountability, while also exploring the role of major tech companies in African democracies.
