As the global community continues to grapple with the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Atlantic Council is open for business. Our business, meetings, and events, however, are occurring virtually. For more information, please read an update from our President and CEO.

Over the last two decades, the world has implemented myriad climate mitigation solutions and deployed billions of dollars to slow and reverse climate change. While there are signs that momentum is picking up on this front, we have not seen the same level of global ambition and pace of action to invest in and scale climate resilience and adaptation solutions. 

There is a crucial need for us to raise the ambition of climate adaptation solutions to build and sustain the capacity for resilience in every community around the world, especially for those who have contributed the least to cause this crisis. Through effective financial investments and targeted on-the-ground interventions, we can protect communities and build resilience to both slow-onset stresses and shocks that a hotter planet exacerbates.

On April 21, the Adrienne Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Center will host a high-level dialogue on opportunities for climate adaptation and resilience action. You will hear from the UN High-Level Climate Champion for the UK, Nigel Topping, Executive Vice-Chair and Founder of the Adrienne-Arsht Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Center, Adrienne Arsht, Mayor Danielle Levine Cava of Miami-Dade County, Florida, Secretary-General of the Insurance Development Forum, Ekhosuehi Iyahen, Director of Alianza University of California-Mexico, Isabel Studer, and the Director and SVP of the Adrienne-Arsht Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Center, Kathy Baughman McLeod. 

This event is part of the series ‘Raising Ambitions’, hosted by the Global Energy Center at the Atlantic Council, leading up to President Biden’s Global Climate Summit and Earth Day.
