Ed Owen is a nonresident senior fellow with the Europe Center at the Atlantic Council. He is a senior communications and political adviser with more than thirty years of experience in the UK government as well as businesses and nonprofit organizations on both sides of the Atlantic.
After an early career as a journalist, Owen worked in the House of Commons before being appointed a special ministerial adviser in the UK Home Office and then Foreign Office between 1997 and 2005.
He has provided public affairs and communications advice to corporate and public sector leaders and was the chief executive of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, a medical research and advocacy nonprofit, for more than four years. In 2016, he became the director of communications of HM Courts & Tribunals Service in the UK’s Ministry of Justice.
Owen founded The Power Test podcast and is a regular commentator on UK and US politics. He moved to Washington, DC, from London in 2023.
