Gabriel “Gabo” Alvarado is a nonresident senior fellow in the Atlantic Council’s Global China Hub and a seasoned US national security professional who blends superior research design and execution with deep subject matter expertise on Chinese political, economic, and security objectives. He currently works at Nisos. His experience delivering value to public and private sector clients includes time at Cadmus, where he assessed risks and developed exercises in the homeland security space, and with Crumpton Group, as senior China analyst and deputy team chief. He was also a senior program officer at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs where he planned programs for members and the public on a range of international and security topics. Alvarado previously worked in the US government, including at the US Department of State in the bureaus of East Asian and Pacific Affairs and Western Hemisphere Affairs. His analysis has been featured in Global Americans, The Diplomat, Cipher Brief, and Defense News Early Bird Brief. Alvarado holds degrees from the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University and Oberlin College.
