Imran Shauket is a senior advisor on South Asia at the Middle East Programs. He is also a consultant advisor to the Gates Foundation and founder of JOBS Group, an association of myriad entities sharing the common goal of economic empowerment and poverty alleviation.
Shauket has been a promoter of South Asian regional cohesion for two decades. He was formerly part of the United States Agency for International Development diplomatic community and served in Botswana, Hungary, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. In this role, he led projects focused on economic growth, health and hygiene, and regional integration. He has also served as a consultant to the UN Group, as well as to German, Japanese, and Swiss aid agencies.
In Pakistan, Shauket served as ambassador for Gandhara heritage promotion, senior advisor to the minister of health, and focal person to the minister for heritage and tourism. He has served as board member of various public and private sector organizations.
Shauket has published two editions of the book Colors of Pakistan: Through the Eyes of the Diplomats. He is a regular writer in the press, with more than eighty articles published in The Daily Times, The Nation, The Pakistan Observer, and other outlets.
