Jeppe Kofod is a distinguished fellow with the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center. Kofod has more than twenty-five years of public service experience in international, European Union, and Danish national politics. He served as Denmark’s minister for foreign affairs from 2019 to 2022, as a member of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2019, and as a member of the Danish Parliament, to which he was first elected in 1998.

In May 2023, he founded his consultancy company, Kofod Global, and subsequently stepped down as a member of the Danish Parliament.

Currently, Kofod serves as chairman of the NPC Ukrenergo supervisory board and advisory chairman for the bio-solutions company GrønBlå. In December 2023, he co-founded the European Initiative for Energy Security and serves on the European Energy Security Leadership Council. In addition to these roles, Kofod is an executive strategic advisor, consultant, commentator, and speaker.

Throughout his career, Kofod has made significant contributions to international parliamentary organizations, including the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly. Additionally, he has served as president of the European Forum for Renewable Energy Sources, treasurer of Parliamentarians for Global Action, vice president for Parliamentarians with Africa, and as a board member of the Parliamentarian Network of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.

In September 2022, Kofod was honored with the Order of Merit (1st Class) of Ukraine by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his support for Ukraine against Russian aggression.

Kofod holds a master of public administration degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He was also awarded a Fulbright scholarship and was a Marshall Memorial fellow.
