Michael Newton was the assistant director of the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center, where he assisted in leading the center’s digital, publication, and media work. Prior to joining the Council, Michael focused on Russian domestic and foreign policy at the Commission for Security and Cooperation in Europe and authored the report 2018 World Cup: The Beautiful Game and an Ugly Regime, which focused on the corruption, discrimination, and forced labor prior to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Michael received his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in international history.
