Sayyara Mammadova is a journalist specializing in disinformation, fact-checking, and open-source intelligence (OSINT), currently serving as a research associate at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRLab) and pedagogical lead for DFRLab’s internationally recognized training program, Digital Sherlocks. She investigates malign influence operations and disinformation campaigns online, trains in open-source investigative techniques and tools to combat disinformation, and delivers talks on disinformation and digital investigative methods.

Beyond her core research work, she actively contributes to the community. She assesses fact-checking organizations through the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) at Poynter and the European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN), helping to uphold high standards within the fact-checking community. She led the creation of an open-source project called TG Collector (TGC), which helps researchers facilitate Telegram-based investigations.
