On September 15, Scowcroft Center acting director Matthew Kroenig was interviewed on CNBC’s “The News with Shepard Smith” discussing Xi and Putin’s meeting in Uzbekistan and the Sino-Russian relationship.
Putin is willing to be the junior partner in this relationship. During the Cold War, the Soviet Union and Moscow was the lead. Now it’s reversed. China is clearly in the lead. Putin was playing a supplicant today to Xi.
