On December 10, 2021, Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center’s Senior Director Jason Marczak was quoted in an AP News article, “Taiwan loses diplomatic ally Nicaragua to China.”
“In Central America, Nicaragua is now the third country that has switched recognition from Taiwan to China in the last four years. I wouldn’t be surprised if more are to come,” Marczak noted.
