The East African quotes Africa Center Director J. Peter Pham on the upcoming US-Africa summit in Washington: 

“The cookie-cutter approach doesn’t work,” said J Peter Pham, head of the Africa programme at a Washington think tank.

“The concerns of Kenya with a dynamic economy and a troublesome neighbour to its northeast are very different from those of Sao Tome or Cape Verde.”


But Mr Pham said that Chinese leaders conducted nearly 20 sets of bilateral talks with African heads of state during a two-day China-Africa Co-operation Forum in Beijing in 2012.
