Job Location: Washington, DC headquarters, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week in office
Employment Type: Temporary
Seniority Level: Intern
Job Category: Staff

Description

Based on the fundamental understanding that today’s most pressing global security challenges are most effectively managed with allies, the Transatlantic Security Initiative conducts research and project activities on topics related to NATO and European security and defense. This includes policy analysis and recommendations on the future of the NATO alliance, how it should be adapting to address today’s security threats, US security policy toward Europe, European defense strategies, NATO-EU relations, and beyond. The Transatlantic Security Initiative brings together top policymakers, government and military officials, business leaders, and experts from Europe and North America through public conferences, off-the-record briefings, table-top exercises, strategy sessions, research and publications, and more.

Our interns are an integral part of the Transatlantic Security Initiative (TSI). Within a small team, most of our projects are all-hands-on-deck, and we encourage interns to actively engage with events, publications, and strategies. This position will expose the candidate to the writing process for publications and articles, logistical elements of event planning, and creating strategic initiatives within a think tank.

The intern will assist in the organization and execution of the Transatlantic Security Initiative’s robust programming and will also contribute to other Scowcroft Center practice areas as required.

The successful candidate will have a passion for the work, a resourceful and entrepreneurial ethos, and a collegial spirit while also being an effective communicator who adheres to deadlines and enjoys the fast pace of learning and growing in an organization. Demonstrated interest in international affairs, transatlantic security and defense, Europe, and NATO through classwork and/or experience is preferred. Communications, digital, and event management skills are also desired.

This internship is based in our Washington, DC headquarters, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week in office. Interns will be compensated at a rate of $18.00 per hour.
