The Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security and its Forward Defense program have launched the Revitalizing US Shipbuilding Task Force, dedicated to ensuring that the US maritime industrial base can meet the demands of strategic competition and future conflict. The task force, which brings together leaders from the public and private sectors, will advance a bold vision and practical recommendations to revitalize the US maritime industrial base, pioneering new approaches to building and maintaining ships while also pursuing conventional measures to deliver tangible improvements and address persistent gaps across the sector. A new approach is vital to preserving US naval primacy and ensuring that the nation can effectively compete through sustained maritime presence and power projection.
