Germany proposes moving NATO’s military HQ out of Belgium

Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) near Mons, Belgium is the Headquarters of Allied Command Operations (ACO).

From RIA Novosti:  NATO’s central military command may be relocated from the Belgian city of Mons to a city in Germany, a deputy from the Belgian parliament said on Friday.

"Actually, there is a proposal from Germany to relocate the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) to a well-equipped place with an airport and facilities," Belgian TV channel RTBF cited Valerie De Bue as saying.  (photo: NATO)
