Future US Military Attachés Gather

On October 21, the Atlantic Council hosted a not-for-attribution roundtable discussion with future US Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard attachés, moderated by Magnus Nordenman, deputy director of the Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security of the Atlantic Council.

The event touched upon Indian maritime security and the challenges and opportunities therein. Aspects on how to improve the situation, such as technology advancement and capacity building, were mention. The discussion also led to an overall picture of emerging Chinese maritime power as well as the complexity of US-China relationship entailing both security and economic aspects. In addition, the event also addressed the relationships of China and India with countries and regions the Attachés will provide their diplomatic services.

This event is part of the Council’s ongoing series in briefing US Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard attachés before they go to their posts abroad.
