On October 3, 2013 in Istanbul, Turkey, Atlantic Council President & CEO Frederick Kempe joined US Consul General to Turkey Charles F. Hunter and Atlantic Council Istanbul Office Director Orhan Taner at a lunch celebrating the official opening of the Atlantic Council’s Istanbul Office. The lunch was attended by several high-level leaders in the government, business, media, and civil society sectors. Earlier this year, the Council submitted a formal application to establish a satellite office in Istanbul, which will mark the first presence of the Council outside the United States. The launch of this office, coupled with the Council’s recent decision to make Istanbul the permanent home of the Atlantic Council Energy & Economic Summit, shows the strong commitment of the Atlantic Council to Turkey and its people.
