On October 12, the Atlantic Council hosted an off-the-record working dinner with Vitaliy Klychko, leader of the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform, and current world heavyweight champion in boxing.

The dinner convened a high-level group of former and current government officials, policy experts, and business leaders. Attendees met with Dr. Klychko to discuss current developments in Ukraine and the future of Ukraine’s European integration.

Dr. Klychko ran for mayor of Kiev on an anti-corruption platform in 2005 and placed second, winning 26 percent of the vote and a seat on the Kiev City Council. Dr. Klychko ran again in 2008 where he won 18 percent of the vote and his party, Vitaliy Klychko Bloc, won fifteen seats on the Kiev City Council. In 2008, Dr. Klychko was appointed to the Ukrainian delegation of the Congress of the Council of Europe and in 2010 he became the leader of the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform.
