On Wednesday, September 24, at 3:00 p.m. ET, the Global Energy Center and the Brazilian Center for International Relations will host “Carbon advantage: Industry efforts to advance a robust and verifiable carbon accounting framework” on the sidelines of New York Climate Week and the UN General Assembly.

As countries worldwide adopt policies that account for the carbon costs embedded in trade, a fundamental challenge is coming into focus. Without accurate, product-level measurements of emissions, total emissions are likely to rise, political momentum may falter, and even countries with cleaner emissions profiles risk deindustrialization.

This live-streamed panel conversation will bring together global policymakers, industry leaders, and distinguished experts to explore practical next steps to establish a robust carbon accounting framework—one that is standardized, precise, verifiable, auditable, and traceable, while eliminating risks of double-counting.
