Caribbean climate resilience: Navigating global support for local action

This conversation is a call to action to international partners on the importance of leveraging global financial and technical assistance to build resilience for Caribbean countries against climate disasters.

The Caribbean Initiative at the Atlantic Council hosted an in-person, invite-only event titled “Caribbean climate resilience: Navigating global support for local action” on Thursday, August 15, 2024, in Bridgetown, Barbados from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (AST). This timely event focused on the critical issues of climate finance and infrastructure development in the Caribbean to support climate resilience, aligning with the goals of the Partnership to Address the Climate Crisis 2030 (PACC2030) initiative.

The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including US, Canadian, and Caribbean leaders, representatives from multilateral development banks, and government partners. The program commenced with a keynote address delivered by The Hon. Kerrie Symmonds, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados, whose insights set the tone for the discussions that followed.
