Join the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Center on April 1 at 2:00 pm EST for a discussion focused on cities and communities preparedness and their responses to overcome and cope with this crisis, through the lens of public health and safety in our cities as they deal with the crisis (in the context of other issues that exacerbate impacts) and solutions that help build resilience.

Cities sit at the center of the long-term solutions needed for societies to become more resilient to crises. In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, the actions of cities and communities across the globe are bringing a human sense of hope and of pragmatism to a current environment of disruption and uncertainty.

As part of the Atlantic Council’s cross-institutional effort to address issues related to COVID-19, we have organized a discussion focused on cities and communities preparedness and their responses to overcome and cope with this crisis, through the lens of public health and safety in our cities as they deal with the crisis (in the context of other issues that exacerbate impacts) and solutions that help build resilience.

As someone who led New Orleans through its rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina and through many other crises, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will share his perspective on how leaders, public servants, and elected officials may think about the issue of preparedness and response to the coronavirus.

Mayor Dan Gelber of Miami Beach will share his experience as the leader of one of the most iconic US cities on how communities and cities are coping with the virus and their coordination with the federal government.
