As the Syrian civil war enters its sixth year, a new administration will take office with al-Qaeda growing stronger than ever in the heart of the Middle East. Syria will be a crucial arena as the incoming administration looks to push back against this growing power of the Salafi jihadist movement that is taking root in the Middle East.

Over the last six months, a rising generation of Syria, Middle East, and US national security analysts has regularly convened to design a strategy for the incoming administration to meet and overcome the threat from al-Qaeda in Syria. The culmination of their effort is the forthcoming report, Combating Al-Qaeda in Syria: A Strategy for the Next President, sponsored by the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy.

Please join us on January 12, 2017 for a discussion with several of the authors of the report.
