The results of Venezuela’s October 15 gubernatorial elections have led an already unstable country into a new and worrisome period of uncertainty. The stark contrast between virtually all pre-election polling and the results announced by the National Electoral Council, coupled with voter suppression prior to the vote, raise serious concerns about the legitimacy of election results.

What happens next? Will the international community finally engage in concerted action? Can the Venezuelan opposition galvanize new momentum? To discuss the implications of Sunday’s gubernatorial elections in Venezuela, join the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center for a rapid reaction public conference call on Tuesday, October 17, from 3:30 pm – 4:15 pm (EDT) for a conversation with David Smolansky, exiled Mayor of El Hatillo Municipality (2014-18); and Luis Vicente León, President of Datanalisis.
