As the global community continues to grapple with the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Atlantic Council is open for business. Our business, meetings, and events, however, are occurring virtually. For more information, please read an update from our President and CEO.

Please join the Atlantic Council’s Future of Iran Initiative on Thursday, April 29 from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm ET for a discussion surrounding the paper, Iranian Women in the Year 1400: The Struggle for Equal Rights Continues. Co-authored by Mehrangiz Kar, an Iranian human rights lawyer, and Azadeh Pourzand, co-founder and director of the Siamak Pourzand Foundation, the paper outlines an image of women’s struggles for equality to help US policymakers better understand the intricacies of Iranian society and to design policies that support—but do not supplant or undermine—the women’s movement.

The discussion will feature the two co-authors alongside Azam Jangravi, Iranian women’s rights activist and Nadereh Chamlou, nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, and moderated by Holly Dagres, nonresident senior fellow and IranSource editor at the Atlantic Council.

A Zoom link will be sent to those who register. The event is open to the press and on the record.
