The Art of the Future Project at the Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security and the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) believe that artificial intelligence (AI) will play a transformative role in the twenty-first century human experience – including conflict. To explore that future, the Project and RUSI are looking for playwrights and writers to explore AI’s impact on social conflict and warfare that are adapted from and inspired by the military science-fiction story A Visit to Weizenbaum, by Jamie Metzl. These issues reach beyond technology to include the unintended consequences of twenty-first century conflict, such as an extreme widening of the gap between military and civilian society, the impact on human identity and the will to fight.
