On Monday, April 13 at 10:00 a.m ET, the Atlantic Council’s Climate Resilience Center and Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security will host a panel conversation on philanthropy’s role in food security in partnership with CGIAR and the International Food Policy Research Institute.
Food security is the foundation on which every other development outcome rests. Health, climate adaptation, democracy, equality, electrification, and economic growth all depend on whether people can feed themselves and their families. When food systems fail, progress across every sector is at risk.
Yet there are significant opportunities to continue the important work toward a more food-secure future. While philanthropies cannot replace official development assistance, they can move faster, reprioritize, and reduce risk. They can serve as a strategic anchor, sustaining the science and partnerships that keep food systems functioning while political headwinds shift.
