Please join the Atlantic Council for a conversation with H.E. Tomasz Szatkowski, Undersecretary of State in the Polish Ministry of National Defense, on Poland’s recently released Strategic Defense Review. The event will take place on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Atlantic Council's headquarters.

The past few years have given rise to an increasingly turbulent transatlantic security environment. A range of complex and pressing challenges, including Russian aggression, successive terrorist attacks, and growing instability along the Mediterranean’s southern rim, have underscored the vulnerability of key European countries, particularly in the east. In response to these threats, Poland — an important NATO ally currently hosting US troops – has launched a major review of its defense strategy. This consequential Strategic Defense Review (SDR) has significant implications for Poland’s military capabilities, defense procurement, and command and control structure, as well as European security and the transatlantic community at large.

Ahead of US President Donald Trump’s visit to Warsaw and the Atlantic Council’s Warsaw Global Forum, Mr. Szatkowski will join us to discuss the results of the SDR and the final report, which will form the foundation of Poland’s new defense concept.

We hope you can join us for this important conversation.
