The Atlantic Council is delighted to invite you to an off-the-record roundtable discussion with UK Minister of State for Europe David Lidington. The discussion will be held at the Atlantic Council, 1030 15th Street, NW, 12th floor, on Wednesday , September 17 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
As the British official responsible for relations with the European Union, Mr. Lidington will comment on the evolving relationship of the United Kingdom and the EU, particularly in light of the impending Scottish referendum and the appointment of new top officials in Brussels. He will also comment on the role of the United Kingdom and the EU in responding to world crises, including the current situation in Ukraine, and the relationship of the UK and EU with Russia.
A long-standing public servant, Lidington has represented Aylesbury in parliament since 1992. Since 2010, he has held the post of minister of state for Europe, which covers a wide-ranging and diverse portfolio spanning from the European Union to Russia and Central Asia. Following years of service in parliament, Lidington joined the Shadow Cabinet in 2002, holding several positions prior to his current appointment.
