In a Wall Street Journal op-ed published last week, Dr. Raj Shah and Paul Romer detailed a strategy for government, business, and philanthropy to rethink the coronavirus crisis by launching a massive testing program that “will give policy makers the data to make smarter decisions about who needs to be isolated and where resources need to be deployed.” Their call for a more sophisticated and sustainable testing approach is aimed at allowing the US to maintain economic and political stability for as long as it takes to develop a vaccine or cure. Shah, president of the Rockefeller Foundation and former USAID administrator, and Romer, Nobel laureate economist, will discuss their ideas and implications for a more resilient approach to pandemics with Gillian Tett, US editor at large of the Financial Times.
