Experts unpack the impact of foreign influence in Venezuela as the US role increases.

On Friday March 20, from 2:00-3:00 p.m ET (3:00 to 4:00 p.m. VET), the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center will host an in-person conversation at the Atlantic Council headquarters examining how US engagement in Venezuela intersects with that of Russia, China, Iran, and Cuba.

Russia, China, Cuba, and Iran have long wielded significant influence in Venezuela. But Caracas’s economic transition—and Washington’s role—is quickly reshaping these dynamics. What is the current status of those countries’ influence in Venezuela, and what steps will be necessary to reduce that influence?

This event is part of our #VenezuelaForward series, examining ideas that promote economic stabilization and a democratic transition.

New policy: In-person attendees will be required to show photo ID upon arrival, and no on-site registration will be permitted. Guests will not be admitted later than twenty minutes after the event’s start time.
