The quickening pace of population growth, urbanization, technological innovation, and climate change, has had profound global impact on individuals, businesses, and societies. At the center of this shift – the rapidly changing automobile industry – has been a crucial part of the solution to developing sustainable and smart technologies to address these key societal and economic trends.
As the automotive industry experiences the most fundamental shift in 100 years, Bill Ford is challenging the status quo, overturning a century of conventional wisdom in the auto industry. In a 2011 TED talk, he told the audience and the world that the goal of having everyone own a car was no longer a good idea and called for smart mobility instead. Under Bill Ford’s visionary leadership, Ford Motor Company has been a trailblazer in adapting its business model to create transportation innovations that are good for the world and that make people’s lives better.
As an avid environmentalist, Bill’s commitment to sustainability has played a significant role in reducing the environmental footprint of Ford’s manufacturing operations and setting an example for other industries, while expanding the company’s investment in small-car, electric, or high-efficiency hybrid vehicles.
