As the global community continues to grapple with the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Atlantic Council is open for business. Our business, meetings, and events, however, are occurring virtually. For more information, please read an update from our President and CEO.

Many Caribbean countries are in the crosshairs of 18 predicted Atlantic basin storms, and the world’s largest, most experienced sovereign risk pool, CCRIF SPC has worked for more than 12 years to provide risk modeling and affordable insurance for 22 hazard-prone countries in the Caribbean Region and Central America. The Adrienne Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Center will announce a partnership with CCRIF SPC with an eye toward sharing and scaling success with other regions, countries and people of the world, particularly those most vulnerable.

In a conversation moderated by Somini Sengupta, Prime Minister Allen Chastanet, Isaac Anthony, and Kathy Baughman McLeod will highlight the growing need for more short and long-term resilience strategies in (developing and developed) vulnerable economies.

COVID-19 represents an opportunity for carving a new path forward. As we enter a high-risk hurricane season, our experts will have a solutions-oriented, forward-looking discussion that considers expanding ways to make people safer and stronger by reducing the physical and financial risks of climate-related threats through interventions focused on public health and risk and finance products and approaches – all pointing us toward a more resilient world.
