The Atlantic Council’s Europe Center and Eurasia Center, in partnership with Razom for Ukraine and Centro Studi Americani, hosted a day-long program in Rome on the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference for solutions-oriented debate and discussion on transatlantic support for Ukraine’s recovery.
The cost of Ukraine’s economic recovery from Russia’s full-scale invasion is estimated to surpass €500 billion over the next decade. Further, Ukraine’s defense against Russia’s invasion continues amid pushes for a resolution to the war. These developments add urgency to the need to advance policy to ensure Ukraine’s long-term survival and recovery. An evolving US approach toward a peace between Ukraine and Russia has put renewed pressure on Europe to lead in this effort.
Against this backdrop, conversations in Rome convened senior government officials, civil society stakeholders, and private sector representatives for panel discussions on the role of the defense industrial base in Ukraine’s recovery and the economic challenges and opportunities of Ukraine’s recovery.
