On Wednesday, December 10 at 10:00 a.m. ET, the Atlantic Council will host an in-person #ACFrontPage conversation featuring US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on how the Trump administration has reshaped global trade.
Tariffs and trade tools are at the center of US international economic policy, as the administration looks to reshore manufacturing. It has negotiated new trade agreements, providing a model in which the United States can tariff trading partners to achieve more balanced trade while also securing investment commitments and coordination on national security policies.
However, major questions remain. Is a system built on higher tariffs sustainable, and what might erode US leverage as major economies such as China adjust? Will the Supreme Court impact the president’s ability to use tariffs? Greer will address these questions and outline how the administration views the new global trading system.
New policy: In-person attendees will be required to show photo ID upon arrival, and no on-site registration will be permitted. Guests will not be admitted later than twenty minutes after the event’s start time. Registration for this event will close at 5:00 p.m. ET the day prior.
