The Hariri Center for the Middle East hosted a briefing on June 26 by US Ambassador to Bahrain Thomas Krajeski with prominent representatives from non-governmental and human rights organizations in the United States.

Ambassador Krajeski, who was appointed in October, 2011, presented an overview of the current political and security environment in Bahrain, and spoke about the United States’ interests in the region. The group engaged in a discussion with Ambassador Krajeski on a number of topics, including potential risks facing Bahrain and neighboring countries, the changing nature of the Bahraini leadership and opposition, and the role of the United States in resolving the situation. The group discussed America’s level of engagement on issues related to human rights and civil society.
